Krakow’s burger scene has really taken off in recent years, with more and more restaurants now popping up on the corners of the Old Town streets and between the cafes of Kazimierz selling patties both classic and innovative. We’ve roamed the town to find our selection of the five best burgers in Krakow, and boy did we have fun doing it!

Moo Moo Steak & Burger Club, Old Town

Done out in shimmering gloss metro tiles and complete with tactically placed bottles of red and white courtesy of Italy, The Moo Moo Steak & Burger Club is something of a more upscale joint than its packed patty touting competitors. The menu works hard to distinguishing itself from the usual collection of American buns, prioritising the kitchen’s selection of ‘steaks’ over its collection of burgers. And while the stylish interior of pine and polished ceramics does help keep this one on the more business end of the scale, there’s still room for those classic BBQ buns and trademark Moo Moo burgers dressed in whopping slices of camembert – what’s not to love?

Corner Burger, Kazimierz

It’s monochrome negatives of Vincent Vega and Jules Winnfield that greet customers to this quirky Tarantino-flavoured burger joint that occupies a quiet corner on Dajwór in the heart of Kazimierz. The menu follows up with a range of all-American staples packed with fresh ingredients and guaranteeing to sate the appetite. Take ‘The Boss’ – a 200g beef patty complete with bacon, cheese, mushrooms, pickles and tomatoes. Then there’s ‘Polish Pride’, creeping in some local flavours with its grilled blood sausage additions. And last but not least is the unique approach to the veggie option, coming in the form of a whole grilled camembert wheel!

Moaburger, Old Town

Arguably the king of all of Krakow’s patty-touting restaurants, this Kiwi-owned establishment cooks up hefty slabs of meat that are truly worthy of the Southern Pacific. The offering starts with the relatively simple classic burger, which layers gherkin, red onion, tomatoes and in-house mayonnaise, while the more fancy options include a Surf&Turf burger complete with tiger prawns and a BBQ burger wrapped neatly in smoky bacon. For the veggies there’s a choice of either goats’ cheese of fava bean patties, while there’s even the option to nibble on olives and mixed nuts while you wait.

Antler Poutine&Burger, Old Town

The much-lauded Canadian poutines (chips doused in thick and flavoursome sauces and a heavy grating of cheese) of this relatively new addition to the Krakow Old Town aside, the burgers here are truly fantastic! A twist on the usual American bun, Antler’s offerings come with flat-topped sesame breads and packed with fresh layers of rocket salad, pickle and onion (really hungry patrons can even opt to drop in a covering of poutine chips to bulk up the meal!). Inside, the décor is tight-knit and easy-going, with black and white colour schemes playing off artsy, moose-inspired graffiti on the walls.

Lokal Burger, Kazimierz

Priding themselves on locally-sourced, market-bought ingredients and the real freshness of their daily-baked buns, the folks over at Lokal Burger on the northern edge of Kazimierz certainly do cook up some of the finest burgers in Krakow. On the menu is a whole host of different meal options, ranging from duck curries to venison salads and oriental wraps, however it’s the burgers that take centre stage, with the likes of egg and bacon baps mixing with the Bourbon burger and its grilled peppers, green chili sauce smothering original beef patties and veggie options constructed with grilled eggplant.
